At last! Pictures of my long awaited Lyfa/Leafa cosplay from Sword Art Online! One of my favorite cosplay to make and wear so far, it's super comfortable, aside from the fact that I need to adjust one or two things that were too big for me in the end (read: the corset and pants)I fell in love with Lyfa's design even before knowing who she was. Being curious, I went on and read the first 4 books of the series (the Anime had just started at that point) and I decided to cosplay Lyfa, because I also liked her personality.
I didn't watch the anime part where she's in. Only the books. I heard that she was made into a fanservice character, and though this saddens me, it doesnt change my love for her.
This picture was taken at Otakuthon 2013, in Montreal, where I debuted her

Ahhh thank you very much! That corset is my pride, pleather things are always tricky to make so I was quite happy with the outcome!

Voui, les designs de ALO sont plus beaux que ceux de SAO, mais les personnages ont été moins développés, alors du coup, très peu de cosplays en sont faits...

Β I knew that you'd be sublime as Lyfa. I'm glad to see the finished greatness. Your portrayal is perfect for the character not only in appearance, but also the general mood/demeanour that you are embodying.
(By the way, in the anime Lyfa is sort of made into a source of fanservice, however, her character arc and personality are still aptly displayed. Another note, I like the ALFheim half of the anime better than the first SAO half because it has something the latter lacked: proper continuity).

I haven't read the source material, however, I still found Lyfa was multifaceted: sympathetic for her romantic dilemma, and she was very strong and caring. Frankly, I thought she was a much better character than the main male protagonist. (But it is unfortunate that, in the second half of the anime, Asuna is reduced to a damsel in distress, but c'est la vie).
Anyway, if you like the show/franchise, then you would most likely enjoy the second part. For the most part, I think.

Ahhh I'm glad Lyfa still had some personality <3 (And yes, in that part Asuna really looses her badassery which is sad, but she does ends up being cool in the end too XD)
