Well I must say, Melbourne Central is the most over photographed architectual building in Melbourne. It's all over the place here.
Thanks for dropping by.

I love this shot! The shadows on the face of the building are too cool. Very interesting mix of new + old architecture, you did a great job composing these elements within the frame. And I really like the muted tones in this as well, great work

cmorrell [2005-03-18 02:25:52 +0000 UTC]

ok, I really really like this one. Normally I tend to prefer your landscape to your architectural shots, but this is definately in my top 3 favs from you.

The mild sepia effect is wonderfully subtle, was this the way your camer picked it up or some post-processing? The angles are absolutely stunning and and the light streaking across the building really sets it off.

The glass and iron circular structure sets a very regimented style which, when combined with the angle you've chosen, offers an almost psychadelic feel to it. The central [?] column annoys me *slightly*, but there's clearly nothing you can do about that and your positioning is sympathetic to the brick building.

The centre of the top being slightly above right of centre works remarkably well, allowing the rest to feel just a little unsettling without being too close to an angle I see all too often in similar shots. I think if you had gone with the rule of thirds as Scott suggested, part of the glass & iron would lose a lot of definition by feeling cramped up and too close together. Maintaining just enough glass between the iron girders is part of what keeps the top right area alive.

Scott, any comments?
