Description Yet another WIP. I really must make a point of finishing something before starting anything new. I get a bit carried away.

I built a rough base mesh in Maya and the rest was done in Z-Brush. I based it on a concept painting which (that’s right) I need to finish. I'll post it soon.

I always liked mermaids and tried to come up with a slightly different look for one.

She is stunning! I love creativity in the new look. I created a alien similar to OctoMermaid, but my Maya skills are still blossoming. Great work! You inspire!

Woooow...I'm a beginner in Maya and was able to model a fruit bowl (poorly) after three days of instruction. It would be great to watch her move! I can imagine all the tentacles swaying and twisting.

beautiful work man, and the pose was well planned, especially with all those extra limbs.

Thank you, yeah the pose was tricky, lots of move and inflate and re-sculpting to get them in the right position.

I've been wanting to get into sculpting, been told by some friends that I should try it, guess I'm a little intimidated by it but will eventually grab me some sculpy and start playing with it.
I want to get a sculpt of some of my characters in the future so I'll either have to do it myself or try to get a pro like yourself to do it.

Did you go to school to learn how to use maya?

on and of for the last 9 years. I spent a good two and a half years not using it at all. I got very rusty, it's amazing how quickly you can forget this stuff if you dont do it every day.

Make sure you get all your paper work in order or else the big bad tax man will be after your ass. That's something which puts me off the whole freelance thing, I'm not organized enough

I've already been doing the tax thing for my casual earnings.
From this point it would just be a case of keeping records, registering with HMRC as being Self-Employed and setting up a DD for NI.
I've looked into VAT, too, and I'd be exempt from that until I hit a certain figure, which I'm unlikely too
(I'm not doing any freelance work beyond what I already have on my plate. I'm going to be producing and selling my own material)

Are you going to give her kalaidoscope skin?

I do have a color scheme in mind but it wasn't kaleidoscopic, though some octopi do have very colorful skin indeed, especially those highly poisonous ones.

Oh of course! ^^ From someone who deals a lot in the combination of art and biology, I always enjoy the freakish, the strange, or the outright crazy.

That, is genius and unique.
