This is so beautiful, I love the patterns you always come up with to incorporate into your art. Black and gold is a gorgeous combo.
I've always been impressed with the 'goldness' of the gold in your paintings, it really looks properly shiny. May I ask how you create this effect? Do you first map out the location of the gold, lock the layer and then add in the different shiny tones? Or do you do it in one go, immediately while painting the golden stripes?

thanks so much!! Yes, I do the gold on one layer and then lock it, and paint highlights and "shadows" over it, as you said
