Description

This artwork marks my first attempt at both using a screen tablet, and using Clip Studio Paint to complete an image, not just ink an image. And the experience of working with both has been interesting.

I'm thankful that the process has not been fraught with setbacks, as I was afraid it would be. Because this image only took me a few hours to finish. It's not an image I'm immensely proud of, but of course that is part of the point. Clip Studio lacks a few key things with regards to photo editing that Photoshop (obviously) has, and so I will miss making use of them, as I'm assuming even the latest update for the software will not have an equivalent. However, the shortcuts, tools, and tricks that CSP DOES offer are quite stunning, and I shall begin making quick use of them.

The screen tablet aspect has been the harder hurdle, but not by much. There is paralax, which can be awkward when my pen is at an angle, so the point of contact is even further off. Lining up one line stroke with the next one is also a lot harder than when I was doing it on a screenless tablet, but, with time, I my muscles should adjust. The only other frustration then, comes from the mounting arm I just recieved to connect my tablet to my desk. This arm is a joke. Just like one of the reviews said, it is incredibly stiff, to the point that you have to manually crank each joint to a new position in order to fix it how you want, rather than simply holding the monitor, and placing it within the region of space you like. The Ergotron that my sister has does just that. Of course, Ergotrons cost nearly $200. I might be pursuaded to buy one in the future, but for now, this may have to do until I'm willing to try another alternative, like the Amazon Basics mounting arm, which I've seen is often cited in top lists for mounting arms from the past few years.

I don't have a screen tablet, so much of the text is going over my head. But what I can say is that Charlotte looks great here!^^
