Description
We laugh ourselvesthat our teenagers are brain dead
heads in their phones, hive mind, feasting
on reprocessed YouTuber
ruminations.
We post their love lives
for our friends to click, we take
their blurry, awkward photos,
set them viral; and sometimes
we also forget to look up.
I keep a spare YouTuber
in the back bedroom
for when my daughter has friends over.
He takes care of dinner and helps them
with their homework, and I am freed
to look after the younger children
and the adults and my work.
Really, it's just one less thing,
not the end of the world.

I like this very much. Well done.
I get teased by my aunt and uncle all the time for being "too attached" to my technology. If I'm honest with myself, I am attached to them, but not as severely as they think. I remember a time when my family literally could not afford a computer for my house. We kept having to go over to my dad's office to type papers because of that fact, and I remember thinking how AWESOME my peers were if they had a computer at their house.
Anyway, thankyou for sharing this with us. Again, well done.

No, it's not. That's what I was trying to say here, so I'm glad you made this comment, because clearly I didn't say it. I hoped the line "sometimes/we also forget to look up" along with some of the imagery would convey that the "adults" also had their heads down and in their phones -- perhaps I need to thicken that up a bit? Because it's definitely not just the teenagers.
