In December we do Secret Santa gifts at work. I like crocheting things for mine, and I got the best choice this year. Earlier in the year, in October, we had a party at work and one of my coworkers dressed like a Mistborn from the ...70's, I think? The time setting for the next era, anyway. I adored her cosplay, and promised myself that I'd make a doll of her. Well surprise! I got her for my Secret Santa recipient! WIN! I mostly had all the clothing patterns I needed, but her hair had me chewing on the how for a couple weeks. I wasn't going to just cop out and give her a pulled to the side straight hair, no. I also couldn't see a good way to make strands and pull them to the side. Like Ghibli hair, yarn hair gets out of control SO fast. I finally figured out how to design a wavy hair pulled to the side design, and I'm so hecking proud of it. I got to be there when she opened the doll and she screamed in excitement! I love making fun dolls for people and she really loved the gift. Here are the shots that I made of the doll. (:
