Your piece inspired me to write 'My Choice', Some have made the suggestion that the expression on Spock's face is his distress over the destruction of Vulcan but to me the positions of his hands and the tension displayed sent me another message--one of possession.
Thank you for this piece.

When I see this scene my focus is not just on his face, (which is wow, by the way), but on his hands. He won't really rest his hands full on her in that scene and I speculated in why that was until I learn that Vulcan's were touch telepath, so then I hypothesized that he might feel too emotionally vulnerable and doesn't want to risk feeling her emotions on top of his own....or that he doesn't want to subject his feelings on her. Either way, very touching and vulnerable and intimate all around.

This is my interpretatin of this scene. Spock's look reveals the realization that if Nyota had been on the ship he had initially assigned her to, she would be dead, he would have lost her and it would have beem his own fault. The position of his hand indicates that now he will forever protect his beloved.
