BTW, if you want to read my manuscript for an animation book, to give you an idea of industry set up, try downloading it....

I'll take it off line in a few days. had it up for someone who might help with art to fill it while I do my own stuff.

Most pictures are missing, but the info is probably pretty helpful for someone like you who is learning animation. Though this is 2D centric, it might be valuable if you work in a blend of media.

Forgot to tell you - after much thought I decided to switch over to studying 2D animation instead. When it comes down to it, 3D is just a tool and if I don't know the fundamentals of 2D animation I won't be capable of making anything worth looking at. I'll definitely check out this manuscript of yours.

Thanks again.

That's excellent news, I think. Your 2D has a lot of joy and expression to it. Didn't want to say anything, because it really is your decision. But, I've seen and known plenty 2D folks that then learn 3D and switched trades, so to speak. You are computer savvy and industrious, so if you do private studies in 3D, I doubt you'll have trouble learning CGI on your own if needed. If you read my chapter on the 3D/CGI stuff there is a mention to how most 3D people are more technically oriented toward computer problem solving rather then being artists, storytellers and animators due to the nature of the tool.

The manuscript will break down (in a basic, simplified overview) all the stages and job stations in animation, and tell you about the needs of each and tools, how they work with other positions, etc etc. And then in the back I have a largish thing on creative direction and film direction, etc.

Best end credits ever. Seemless loop man, I don't know how you do it... is that the "get" loading screen...?

FargalEX In reply to Couk [2006-01-20 21:07:16 +0000 UTC]

Bwaha, yes, it is the "get" loading screen. Not the only loading screen of mine with "LOAD HAPPEN" on it though. Also, for seamless loops import wav files rather than mp3s.
