Description The apple, she said, was never to eat,
The apple, she said, was never to keep.
The apple, she said, was always forbidden
And to burn that tree to the ground a good riddance.

Snake, she said, had offered it once
It had offered a taste, but only one.
It was degusting, she said, bitter and cruel,
But I craved it now for I was a fool.

Father, she said, had taken a bite,
Their shared sin in the dead of night,
Father, she said, had choked as he swallowed,
We thought, she said, that he’d be dead by tomorrow.

We killed the snake, she said, and threw the fruit away,
Tomorrow we came back and it was just the same.
Sin, the snake told them, is for now and forever,
And you’ll be rid of me never.

Now eat the fruit, he told them twice,
Eat the fruit for you already sinned and accept to die,
They conversed and to his surprise,
They ate the fruit and said goodbye.

They didn’t die as you can see,
God had mercy and they had me.
I, Pandora,
Heir to Adam and daughter of Eve.
