Description     She could barely hold herself up. It couldn't be...but the memory was crystal clear. Unfortunatly, it was the only one she had. Meaning she still had no idea who she actually was, or where she came from.

"Are you sure?" Kayden asked.

"I'm certain of it. A Puritan told me....it was the reason I fled my home...he was some sort of doctor or something...I don't know for sure." She shook her head. It still ached from the pang of memory. She couldn't really be SURE of anything...but it sounded convincing.

"Wow...I haven't seen and Ignis in...eight years." He smiled.

~Is this good news? I'm horrified...~ She only shivered.

"I don't feel right about this. How do I even use this "gift" of mine? Where do I go? What do I do? I burned a man alive! How can this be a good thing?!" She started panicking. Her body grew incresingly warmer. "What even am I?" She was burning.

"A Diverse, like me. You're and Ignis and an Ignotus." He said, cocking his head to the side.

"Still and Unknown." She mumbled. "I can't take this uncertainty." She put her hands over her eyes. It was starting to hurt, her chest burned. The heat radiated off her. Suddenly a tree burst into a column of blue flame, burning fiercely. She fell back on her side.

"Whoa there, Ignis, careful. You're  untrained. You have to keep your emotions under control, or I might be next." He put his hand on her arm. The burning in her chest extinguished slowly as she lay in the cold snow. It had melted to the ground beneath her. She let all the air in her lungs rush out and she collapsed into Kayden, who knelt beside her.

"Hey, hey, it's alright." He said, soothingly. "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine." She sat up. She gasped at how dangerously close he was to her. She pulled away, her cheeks burning with embarassment. "How do we put the fire out?" She asked in the tense air. He looked up at the scorching tree. A gust of wind engulfed the tree, choking the flames until the whole thing collapsed into ash. She put her head down in the snow to cool it.

"That works." She moaned. "Have you ever suffered from severe migranes from this?" She asked, painfully.

"It's the blue fire. Don't worry, it'll ease with time. Something happened to your head when you were attacked. You're not used to the effect the fire has on your body." Kayden uprighted her, easily supporting her weight.

"Oh, well that's enlightening." She remarked sarcastically.

"Since you didn't know you were an Ignis before, you don't know how to use the power, and you're not used to the excertion. All Ignis Kind have only weileded normal fire...blue fire, so far, has been a myth. It's supposed to be stronger and hotter ten fold. It puts a real strain on you. I'm surprised you're still coherent." He looked around. A pain engulfed her whole body. It was burning...but it was...cold.

"W-what is---happening...?" She could barely breathe.

"I'm sending a cool stream through you. You're burning up, Reia. I know it hurts, it'll go away soon. Come on, let's get you to the market, I know someone who can help your gaping gash; you're bleeding again." He picked her up as if she were a feathered pillow.

~I hadn't even noticed.~ She rested her head on his chest and let the cool stream lull her into a calm sleep.

Somewhere inside, she hoped another memory would come to her. But there was nothing. No dreams, no nightmares...just nothing. Darkness everywhere. Her chest burned with life. Despite Kayden's attempts to cool her, even in the dark, depthless sleep, the heat pressed against her insides, wanting out. Her eyes opened when the burning turned to a dull ache. She was in a warm room. The smell of steaming water and soap was all about her. A woman was bustling about the room. She took a large wooden paddle and stuck it in a giant pot, heated over a fire.

~Fire.~ She slowly sat up, frightened.

"Well hello there, child." The woman said. Reia frantically looked around.

"Where am I?" She asked.

"In my humble home. You're just inside the market place. I'm only a merchant, doing my buisness. My name is Lamora." She continued to stir.

"What are you doing?" The woman smiled at Reia's question, she wiggled her fingers and made a strange sound.

"Stiring up my witch's brew." She laughed coarsely. "It's only laundry, child, have no fear." Reia allowed the air in her lungs to rush out. She looked around some more, still looking for her friend.

"He's outside. I had to shoo him out with my paddle. He refused to leave your side. I had to stitch you up. My lands, you'd've died right there had Kay not brought you to me. He did well to bandage you, but he didn't seal the wound. You lost enough blood to fill a goblet for the Puritan King." Lamora shook her head. She had a thick accent. Reia knew she wasn't from Corealis. Lamora had a heavier accent than Reia, she assumed Lamora was from a country near wherever she was born.

"So...you know...about me?" Reia asked, suspiciously.

"Yes, child, I know about you. I am what you are...in a different sense that is. I am Diverse." She said, firmly, but calmly.

"What Kind?"

"I am a Terrum. Earth. I practice the craft of healing." She looked as if she hadn't spoken those words in a long time. It was unsettleing to see her like this. Reia had a sudden impulse to help her. She only nodded, though.

"I'm an--"

"Ignis. I know. Ignis Ignotus, I hear. Rare, that." Lamora cut her off.

~Ok, so she obviously got the run-down story of poor little me...that's embarassing.~

"How do you know Kayden?" She asked, getting off the topic of herself. Lamora laughed that laugh again,

"Kay and I go way back. I was the one who brought him here from the Organization. Someone had to, and he needed guardianship. He used to get himself into all kinds of trouble by sneaking out, and getting into fights that he always won. He never tangled with the bigger kids though...I threatened to boil his bones if he ever revealed himself. He always came to me with countless injuries, all of which I meneded, sending him, again off on his merry way. When he came in this time, I wasn't expecting to see him with a girl...and another Diverse, no less. He's finally maturing." She seemed nostalgic; something Reia never could be. She smiled at the little story.

"That sounds like him alright. I've only known him for a day in a half....I've only known me for a day and a half." The last part, she said quietly, as if talking to herself. Lamora patted her shoulder.

"Your mind will mend with time, child. You cannot force your memory to return. You have to let nature run its course." The old woman stood, "Now let me see if I can't find you something to eat, you must be famished." Reia only sighed. She couldn't tell how she was feeling other than beat down. There was still a dull aching in her chest. The flap of the tent parted and in walked Kayden. He smiled when he saw Reia was up.

"Welcome back, sunshine." Reia beat him to his usual phrase. He shook his head.

"We've got to get you your own sayings. You're stealing all of mine." He sat on the mat next to her, offering an apple. Reia took it with delight.

"How are you?" Kayden asked, more seriously.

"I'll survive. Lamora hasn't told me I'm going to die, so I'm assuming I'm in good shape." Reia remarked, leaning against his shoulder, biting the crunchy apple. He laughed a little,

"That's good at least. Can't loose you before we've even begun the journey. We still have to find you." The tent flap suddenly burst opened and a strange boy exploded in. He looked Kayden and Reia's age, and he looked like he had purpose.

"Woman! I seek a girl! Perhaps you can help me!" The boy hadn't even noticed Reia or Kayden sitting there off to the side. Lamora went up to him suspicously.

"What can I do for you?" She asked. Reia almost choked on her sincerety.

~What's with her tone?~

"That's a Puritan." Kayden said through his teeth. He stood, carefully. "Stay down." He commanded. Reia was restless and wanted to immediately stand...but she restrained herself and stayed put.

"I'm looking for a girl. She went missing from Athuris a few days ago. She's about a half foot shorter than me with long black hair and hazel eyes. Perhaps you've seen her." The boy's voice was very commanding.

~Oh no...that sounds a lot like....~Gulp~ me...~

"Who wants to know?" Kayden stood in front of Reia, consealing her.

"I am the Puritan son of Morkeza. You dare not refuse me the information I seek. It is of high importance that this girl is found." The boy demanded, making himself taller.

"Is there a particular reason for this?" Kayden asked.

"She's my future bride. My marriage to her is of the utmost importance. Not something a mere peasant like you would understand. I must find her." Now Reia wanted to stand and clock this guy. His tone was a little too high and mighty for her likings.

"Do you have the name of this maiden?" Lamora asked, respectfully.

"Reialyn Sapphire Mairyse Avingon." The boy responded formally.

~Yep...I may not know everything in between, but on the outside, that's me.~

"I have a feeling you know where she is. If you do not give me the answer I am looking for, you will all die, here and now." The boy threatened. Ok, now she was pissed.

"Really now? We'll see about th--" Kayden didn't get to finish. Reia shot up, standing straight, empirically.

"Who do you think you are? Threatening them like that! Have you no respect! Go waste away in some rooting corner you concieted son of a---!" She advanced, but Kayden held her back. "Let me at him!" She shouted, defiantly. The boy was absolutally horrified. She struggled against Kayden, but he was too strong.

"Enough, Reia. I think he knows who you are now." Kayden grunted, sending the cool stream through her.

~Had the fire made me so impulsive?~ She wondered to herself. ~Wait, that's not what I'm supposed to be worried about here...~ Recognition did indeed register on the boy's face.

"Reialyn?" He said, confused. After an awkward silence, he said, "It's me, Colten." Nothing. Reia had no recollection of even the name. Her own name was familiar somewehere in the back of her mind when she first heard it, but this guy? Nothing...nada...nilch.

"Don't you remember me?" He asked, stepping forward.

"I have no idea who you are." Reia replied, honestly. She could've bet her life on it.
