The Air Force Museum at Wright-Pat has an F-4C painted with Old's markings when he flew in Vietnam. I didn't know that it was not the actual aircraft he flew. Looks like Nellis takes good care of this aircraft!

The AFM started a policy about 30 years ago where they will depict historic acft using other serial number airframes w/ the correct markings of the acft depicted.
They also decreed that all display aircraft under their control will have the canopies painted silver or black/ dark blue.

Makes sense - those colors look sharp for aircraft on display and likely easier to keep clean/take care of. Plus, you don't have to worry about having anything in the cockpit!
