Description
The Shimakaze class design is without a doubt, one of my favorite designs in all of science fiction, the angular hexagon-shaped frame, the outriggers, the cross-shaped aft, it just all comes together so well. However, I do have a few complaints about the design such as the bridge neck being far too tall, there are far too few guns for the ship to be called a Battlecruiser, all the weapons are on the dorsal hull towards the bow, meaning there is nothing to defend the aft or the ventral side and finally, the launch/recovery bays for fighters is weirdly placed.
I attempted to address these complaints with this design as I have placed more weapons on the ship with the weapons spread out for more optimal firing arcs, I made the port and starboard bays big enough for fighters and bombers and I made the bridge held more closely held to the hull. The only thing I do not like about the ship is the midframe, it's just lacking something, but nothing I tried seemed to make it work., If I ever work on this design again, I think I'll work on the port and starboard hanger pods as well as mid mid-frame.
All in all, I think the design turned out okay, but it isn't one of my favorites and I think it's one of the weaker designs I made.
