Everyone has themsignatures to parts of their lives
things they depend upon
to earn their bread
or simply for recreation.
One doesn't go far on the path
not without them
in conjunction with your hands
these carve your fate.
Sometimes you don't pick them
they come to you
and follow till your dying day
you learn to love and respect them

I love the simplicity of it. And how these tools can be anything that help make our way in life. I just like how you take a simple concept and make it more complex. You make the reader think. That's an admirable skill.

It is just a lifestyle of thinking about everything any particular thing can do. Look at something that matters to you and realize...that you can make any sort of work related to it. It's the same thing that I liked in your poem "Tinkering On the Grand" so long ago.

Quite an interesting piece and the message is says is pretty true.
Everyone goes through life using something they are very good with, whether it be a gun, a pair of drum sticks, a spatula or a jetplane.
I can't help but think it may be dedicated to something though. Perhaps something in your new ID?

Well, I fancy myself a lawman but the beat up notebook is as much a tool of my trade as the pistol. Dedicated not so much as simply a way to state the obvious about the things in my ID.
