Thorin and his company, looking at Erebor, their homeland! you can also see the ruins of Dale and the thrush
Bilbo is also there with his new pony. I can imagine Thorin staring at the lonely mountain, with eyes full of anxiety, hope, but doubts as well. He knows his main enemy may not be Smaug...
Now I have in mind the song from the movie The Hobbit, by Neil Finn:
Far over, the Misty Mountains rise
Leave us standing upon the height
