Raito is the japanese version, I think, with the official spelling and sounds and stuff. It sounds/translates like Light. I THINK.
But Light is still retarded. I would've supported him if he hadn't killed L. T.T

actualy the letter L in jappanese words is pronounced R

The letter "r" is a mix of "r" and "l" and it's used in both situations. Also, they pronounce the ending syllable a bit. Therefore, "Light" becomes "Raito" and "L" is pronounced as "Eru."

people call him Raito, because when people in japanese say, Light, or Lighto, it sounds like Raito. also an L is japanese sounds like an R in english. that's another explaination of why people call him Raito.
