I really love it too. I think it would be even more dynamic with less space on the left and more on the right.

Oh, wow... i saw you tell Bob (~vovkas) to look at your gallery... anybody who will do that should likely have something really really good to offer, so i looked and found this one. WOW! This is a seagull, am i right? It is just perfect! Damn perfect, it has to be a fav. Sky is highly textured, the bird isn't really reminding me of Noah and his ark more than it reminds me of struggle during rough times--strength in adversity. Beautiful. Always nice to visit a page and stumble upon things really worth watching.

Thank you I really appreciate your comment. I do not even remember what kind of bird it is anymore, it's a very old shot.

i see a very nice composition of this piece. the contrast makes a beautiful juxtaposition of the bird to the sky, but the tight cropping makes the flow of the shot seem restrained. maybe allow more negative space to the top and bottom of the frame?

Next time, that is the cropping I did with my camera, not digital

I love this shot. It is framed beautifully, and I love how even though it is B&W you can see some of the transparency of the wing.

Very nice piece, 'tis is! I stumbled upon your gallery, and hope to stay here for a loong time! your pictures are amazing, and this one not the least! I love the sillhuete, the lack of color, the crispness.. pretty much everything with the picture. It blew me away. But besides that, I also like the way tehre is something more, something deaper, something more profound. I'll try to figure it out, but I doubt I ever will look at it the way you do. I will, however try

eugenef In reply to Ogrrr [2005-09-05 18:58:19 +0000 UTC]

thank you soo much, hope you stick around. Primarily you can read through the comments on this image, originally the picture really didn't do much for me, so i removed the color and made it black and white, to make it pop, but the way the image was framed and the directionm were all significant to me. The framing was deisnged to make the image look almost like a tunnel for the bird, as in there is only one way through, so the bird has a destined path. Sounds a little strange, but a lot of times, I take an image and then reflect upon it, while making minor changes. You will notice in my gallery, I really do not like to "photoshop" pictures, if i canot take them the way they are supposed to be, than i will spend a great deal of time reading up on how to do it. Well anyways stick around, hope you will enjoy the work. I don't see my self as a pro, mearly an amateur so I have been working now for about 9 years on my worm, maybe someday i will be pro

Ogrrr In reply to eugenef [2005-09-05 19:11:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm just an amateur myself. Got a camera last birthday (before christmas, so thats almost a year soon), and been working with it since. I'm always looking to learn, and hope to beable to do that by looking at others. Trust youll see alot of me in the future

and I know what you mean, I usually dun photoshop pictures too much. Maybe change the size, lightness and at times even the saturation. But other then that, I keep them like they are when I take the actual shot. More of a sport that way

This one is excellent - smiles but why did you select this pose? - teasing - sorry I am still trying to get over your New York criteque of my work. Hope all my work is not without merit in your eyes. But if it is I will have to disagree - smiles.

i'm not sure, a lot of work, i sometimes do and then really think about it, and if there is no way to really explain my work or no way to really look at it in a coool perspective, then i remove it. I just love how the image shows no definition of aspects of a bird, there is nothing distracting one away from the view. the image defines a bird in a very basic form, so that when one looks, one has no need to try to identify it, it is allready defined. This picture has a lot more meaning behind it then it may appear to be, as well as the title that goes along

The light barely parting through the clouds gives it a nice effect. Looks great but I think it would look better with a different border.

I like it too, the stretched out wings really make this special. I also like the framing, even if...why not make it a little bit wider? It may let the seagull's shape stand out more.

Yes, very cool use of the border. I like how most of the bird is just a sillouette but you can see through the feathers. Cool shot.

I like this one also. The way you off centered the bird makes it much more appealing--it shows a sense of movement. The sky behind the bird sets a perfect mood.

Nice job with this piece!
