Description Here I've started such an unusual artwork — the illustration series as if H. C. Andersen's "The Little Mermaid" took place in Japan in Edo period. For this work I'm gonna research and then use the ukiyo-e, sumi-e and shunga elements, plus Katsushika Hokusai's artwork as a source of inspiration. So, here we are with the first work!

A long, long time ago, in the Sea of Japan lived Ningyo-san — a beautiful girl with skin white as snow, lips red as corals, and a soul honourable as the Princess'. A descendant of Oto-Hime, relative to all the yokai spirits, she enjoyed observing the people's life in the country on the nearby isles. Once upon a time, the rich-decorated ships left the isles bays. There was a big celebration across the whole country: the New Emperor's coronation.
