Description Taken on the same farm as [link]

Because of the drought situation, the owners of this farm had to have two bores drilled, to bring some water up from under ground.

A whole lot of clay comes up at first, so the workers were just chucking it all to the side. The sloppy clay gradually laid itself flat on the ground and set.... and then cracked in the heat. So, that's what this photo is of - cracked up clay all over the ground.

The pieces are really thick, about 3cm or so - so they're more like small slabs. Either way, it was at a perfect stage to be picked up and carted off to any art classroom

Note: I stupidly forgot to check the ISO on my camera when I went away, and it was up at 1600 because the last time I'd used it was somewhere dark. I didn't realise I'd left it up so high until 200 shots later. Still angry at myself.

Hot countries eh, who'd have em... great linear qualities obviously but more of an interesting thing to see in real life I'd imagine. I love how smooth each piece looks on top, yet the fact it was originally part of a larger piece which has now been 'shattered' gives it a wonderful natural contrast.

The colours in this are beautiful. The gradient from a soft orangey/yellow to the deeper orange is really nice and i always loved this kind of cracked ground. It's quite beautiful the way it all cracks into these interesting shapes and still manages to stay so smooth on top. I wonder if it was this that inspired the first mosaics...

i wouldn't expect this to actually be real... like i see it in magazines but i'm always in denial...

i am odd though, so that might explain it...

what difference does it make if the iso was so high if the shot came out nicely anyways?

I just put that there incase anyone said "Nice.... but why the hell did you have it at ISO 1600?" or something.

It didn't matter in this shot, but I was bothered because it pretty much ruined a bunch that I took while away
