Let me just explain how I do things.

Step 1: "Wow! *characters* from *anime/videogame/movie/etc* are so cool! I must draw them!"
Step 2: sketchsketchsketch
Step 3: "hey, that's quite a good sketch. Let's do it DIGITALLY!"
Step 4: spend ungodly amount of time scanning and re-drawing the work in Photoshop/Gimp/other stuff
Step 5: Finished! But wait, no background...
Step 6: try and draw background, and fail. RAGE
Step 7:Find some random picture on Google and set as bg.
Step 8: wait about a month
Step 9: FINALLY FINISH IT OMG THIS HAS BEEN ON MY DESKTOP FOR SO LONG
Step 10: Upload to dA.
