hmm, unfortunately I have never attempted to draw on the ipad before so I'm not informed enough on the process to give any tips on it. thanks for the comment though

I use photoshop but I think some things may transfer over to sketchbook pro. I would suggest making sure your tablet settings mimic your traditional drawing preference. For example, set the pressure on the tablet so that your strongest press actually makes the brush size the largest it can be just like it would be when you draw traditionally. I say this because sometimes if the tablet is set too firm or soft you cannot achieve the proper brush size you want.
As far as rendering, that just takes a lot of practice. Do some image studies and try to mimic them as best you can. I find that shape painting works pretty well. Start with large basic shapes and then keep refining them, adding and taking away, until you get what you want.
I hope this helps a little

just an idea, but you should send a portfolio to Privateer Press...
Its a miniature company and their Warmachine range of models got an army called the Cryx.THIS would fit perfect for their Warcasters...give it a shot if you dont mind, maybe you can get a few orders from them

Thank you. it's not too bad to do actually. I would suggest if you don't have a paper cutter to get a xacto knife and a ruler and just put the straight edge where you want to cut off the extra background and follow the ruler with the knife.
