Lovely shot. Done on manual I guess? or did you buy an AF-S 50mm F/1.4?

Cause you were using a Nikon D5000.

The lower Nikons (D40/D40x/D60/D3000/D3100/D5000) suck cause they don't have the AF motor; that's why it's so cheap in the first place! It's sad buyers don't do their homework and suffer in the long run.

Personally though, that's why I advocate Sony. Not only is the AF motor built into the camera, but so is SteadyShot (like VR/IS) so you don't need to spend so much on lenses.

I was aware that I would have to use manual focus before getting the 50mm F/1.8, but I got it anyway because for me being able to use manual focus isn't a bad skill to have, and so far its been working well for me. As for the D5000 model, I wouldn't go so far as to saying it sucks. It may not be top of the line, but its still mid-range and works really well for its price. The lack of an internal motor is just a minor setback.

I haven't had the chance to use a Sony DSLR just yet other than those I've tried in the store. But I guess its just personal preference too. I'm a Nikon kinda guy.

True, but when you do documentation and events (like me) - you don't have the time to bother focusing on manual. Especially when the slightest error in focus gives a big effect in the photo.
