(OoC: Ah, well, you see, Myrkul - as god of the dead - had connections to the Nine Hells, as devils often made pacts and contracts with mortal souls, so they needed to answer to him to get them. And since the sword was lost there, he had the ability to reclaim it, and he did and gave it to Akachi, who was his Chosen. After Akachi betrayed him, however, and was thrown into the Wall, Myrkul cast the sword back into the Nine Hells where it belonged, beside its original owner.... who's still missing. But anyway, the rest is history)

I think Ammon got the sword after Akachi used it during the 1st crusade. It would explain why is it whole then. Ammon is the last but one wielder of the silver sword, and he broken it during the battle of West Harbor, and after that the Knight Captain got it, and partitally reforged it(gaining those cool shard-abilities)and after the Vale collapsed the founder reforged to blade fully, so she can give it to th CK so that he/she can end Akachi's curse...whew

Not to mention the githanki are really angry because one human steals their most sacred weapon, another breaks it, and "INSERT_PLAYER_NAME" stops them getting it back

The whole plot is a bit confusing, I agree! If I remember correctly, Ammon retreived the sword to fight the King of Shadows, but then he was defeated and imprisoned for centuries. That would explain the time gap somehow.

(OoC: Actually, Ammon was obviously imprisoned for, like, a decade or two, since Aldanon and a few other nobles knew him)

Yeah I never quite got that ... The sword broke when Ammon kinda lost to the King Of Shadows. And a fragment was stuck inside your chest ... also the parents of your human childhood friend were killed that day ... so many time gaps everywhere, I can't pinpoint where it began to stop making sense XD. That's probably why my half-drow choose to be a warrior. You get to wield big weapons and you don't really need answers ^^

Well, the game did kind of force the player to repeat that - even if it's only in one's head

"For the last time, I'm NOT Akachi!"

It made me wish for a different back story for the player. Something which would let the player choose this as an answer 'I am a sister and a wife and a mother of 3!!! And DEFINITELY NOT AKACHI!!!'
Or, you know, lie about it.
