Thank you so much!

Alrighty, how did I make it... I pretty much had to come up with all of the patterns myself, with the exception of the pants, which I made using a modified pajama pants pattern (I also added a hidden pocket to them so I could carry things around at conventions).

To get the pattern for Korra's shirt, I wore an old shirt and had someone help me draw pattern lines onto it. Then I cut up that old shirt and transferred those patterns onto pattern paper. The fabric I used is cotton knit, which can be a bit annoying to work with (stupid stretching...), but once you fiddle with it for a little while, you get used to it. I made her two bracers out of cotton knit fabric as well. You can come up with a pattern by measuring the circumference of your wrist and the widest part of your forearm. To get the right amount of bagginess and drape to the pants, you are going to want to use linen or some type of heavier cotton muslin. This is fabric that will get wrinkles in it, but trust me, it really makes the pants look baggy and Korra-like. Her front blue 'apron' is made from the same type of fabric, and it is designed to just tie around the waist in the back. Be sure to use two layers of fabric for the apron, otherwise it will be too light and bunch up as you walk.

As for the armband, her back 'apron', and her hair thingies, I made them out of leather (the back apron is lined with lamb's wool). Leather work is rather time consuming, but it really pays off in the end. For example, the armband took me around 20 hours (here is a slightly better pic of the armband [link] ) and the back apron around 30-40 hours. To do leather work, you will need an awl to punch each and every hole before you stitch it, a leather needle, and thick, heavy duty thread. Make sure you measure your stitches carefully, as whatever hole you put in the leather will stay there. I didn't make the boot because I was busy with school, but I'm planning on making her boots this summer.

I hope this helps... even if it is quite a long response. If you have any further questions, feel free to drop me a message. Happy Korra cosplaying!!!! XD

I hope you don't mind answering- but could you go into detail on how you did her hair thingies? And also, how did you get the little white highlights on her blue shirt on? Is it two different shirts/just...how?

Of course I don't mind answering! XD

For her hair thingies, I cut rectangles of blue leather that would comfortably wrap around my hair (the pony tail one is longer and wider than the ones for the bangs). Then, cut out small strips of white leather to sew on the top and bottom parts of the rectangles. To attach the smaller ones to my bangs, I gathered my hair up with tiny rubber hair bands, wrapped the leather around my hair, and then secured the leather using two blue hair bands at the top and bottom of the hair wrap. I repeated this process for my ponytail.

The white parts on the shirt are trim. I made a modified tank top in blue and then attached the white underneath the finished edge of the blue for the sleeves. The white around the neck is piping.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much!!! XD
Yup, I made everything you see except the boots. I used a bloomers pattern for the pants (It was a pattern we had lying around, so I used it. Had to take them in A LOT because they were so poofy!) I made my own patterns for everything else. I used cotton knit for the shirt and bracers. And I made the brown back 'apron' out of leather and sheep fur. I made the armlet out of leather. ---> Lots of hand stitching and getting poked with a leather needle... lol
Sooooo... I put a lot of hours into this bad boy!

Wow! The costume looks cool.
I really can't wait for this new series to come out this weekend.
Is there a torturial on how to make these avatar cosplays?
I've found one for Toph but, I'm not sure if there's a cosplay turoturial for a Fire Nation version of Korra.

Thanks! And, yes, SO EXCITED FOR THIS WEEKEND!
About the tutorials... I don't know if there are any tutorials on how to make the cosplays. I had to rework and make my own patterns for this cosplay.

Well,it was less stalking and more of a "we were always behind you thing". And then my husband started pointing you out:"There's that Korra."
