Description Holy snap. That took a while.

(And I'm actually still not sure if it's done. But I wanted to upload it. I might make minor changes in the future but it won't look much different.)

Right! So. Digital painting. Used my normal toolset, which is lots of colors and the eyedropper thingummy to keep track of 'em, excessive dodge/burn, a dozen layers, utilization of the smudge tool, and others.

First attempt at turning a hand-drawn sketch into a digital painting. Oh, don't look at me like that; the reason all my art doesn't look this good is mostly laziness.

However...except for the sketch I used as a guidelines, I did do this entirely on the computer, not even relying on pre-inked lines. Meaning that I did everything freehand with a mouse. Well, you try using only a mouse for seven years to create art; you get pretty good after a while.

Constructive criticism is highly welcome, even if I'm too cheap to afford the critique feature.

EDIT: Just fixed up some stuff, including darkening up the background and fixing his face. ^_^

EDIT 2 (5/22): Did lots of stuff with the rocks, background, and hair; hopefully it looks nicer?

I'm here going - Hey! I get it!

... 'Cause Death Mountain can get annoying.

Hey Penguin. I love the movement. Really gives it that windy, stormy feel. But my favourite thing is his face. Looks great.

Yeah, I think so. The rocks look rockier and his hair is more 3D. I think there's more detail on that plant, too, am I right?

Nice use of perspective! And the view is beautiful- that's what I love about portraits, they can have so many different ways to view that you never see in life unless you look hard enough. And Death mountain is one crazy climb - but it will be worth it in the end.

And he looks deep in thought - what could he be thinking about?

Lovely.

The left arm looks oddly stretched out: probably should either widen the arm or make the hand a bit smaller. And the hair over his face looks off, but I can't pinpoint why. o.O I love the rest of it, though, especially the clouds and the ground waaaaaaay beyond them; I actually got a touch of vertigo looking at it. ^.^; The bombfruit is a cute touch, too.

Nice!

I like: the foreshortening, the wind-swept quality, the clouds, the rocks, the plants, and the stitching on Link's hat. I'm impressed that you did all this with a mouse , but then, you've been solely mouse-based longer than me and you probably have a real mouse and not a trackpad. (Trackpads suck for doing digital art, let me tell you. )

Wonderful work!

maybe on the arm that goes up the highest make a triange from the shoulder to the hand to help get the small to bigger proportion better. thats just a guess ive never had to use it.
