Description Back to Lord of the Rings again. I always wanted to do a Faramir pic, but I realized that there aren't many good quality Faramir-pics out there on the internet. Finally I used a screencap I made from the DVD that came along with the special edition of the ROTK soundtrack. The picture wasn't that good as a reference, but like I said, I could not find anything else. I still hope you'll like it.

Thank you so much again.
I adore Ioan Gryffudd, he was great in "Hornblower" so this actually might happen sooner or later. LOL! Tom Welling is not really my cup of tea though - but we'll see! I'm always open for suggestions.

This is very neat looking? Very soft and dream-like? How long does something like this take you? About how big is it?

It took three days to make this pic. The second and newest Faramir took almost a week, because of the details in the armour. The size of it... um... ca. 28cm/11inches high.

He's beautiful. I love what you've done with the light here - not easy to get that nice of an effect with pencils!

Faramir is one of my absolute favorite characters in the books. (I don't think the movies did him justice - but this isn't the place to get started on that!)

enednoviel In reply to Thorn1125 [2004-08-09 17:50:17 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you. Faramir was one of my favourite characters in the book and when I saw the theatrical version of The Two Towers I was really really disappointed, if not a little angry because Peter Jackson changed the character so much. But after I saw the Special Extended Version of TTT, David Wenham somehhow pulled it off that I started to like the movie Faramir. And when I saw him in the scene in ROTK where Denethor sends him to Osgiliath, he had finally won my heart!

Thorn1125 In reply to enednoviel [2004-08-09 18:18:16 +0000 UTC]

My reaction exactly. David did an excellent job with what he was given. But I was quite angry with Jackson for what he did to the character. I haven't seen the deleted scenes or extended versions... I've been told they will appease my wrath...

They will appease your wrath indeed. The cut scene of TTT with Faramir and Boromir is absolutely *brilliant*. It was this scene that really changed my mind. It explains so much about Faramir's behaviour.

how in the name of anything do you get your shading to be so...
perfect!?
also, the amount of detail you put in is incredible.

Thanks! I use a special brand of pencils and a special paper (Canson paper) which is very smooth. It really helps with the shading.

really beautiful!
he is a bit different from the movie, i'd say.. anyway, your version is even a bit more like faramir, that i imagined while reading -- so you did quite a good job!

Yes, David Wenham's face is a little broader and I drew him with a little more hair.

Excellent shading, and the hair (I love good hair-'cause I can't draw it. heh.), really looks great; all nice and shimmery and natural looking.
Great job!!

I don't remember much about Faramir in the book, seeing as I have read it over a year ago, but I think he's a wonderful character, at least from what I have seen in the movie. I was really surprised that he actually looked somewhat like Boromir in the movie too...
