Description Beleth kept glancing over his shoulder.

Cadence was focused on the path ahead until she caught sight of the purple wyngling continuously checking behind them. The red wyngling followed his gaze, but it was only the tree they had just been looking at--the one with the claw marks and coatala fur. There appeared to have been some old bloodstains too.

Cadence thought she could see uneasiness on the boy's face, which was odd considering how cranky he always looked. She turned to look at him, "What's back there?"

Beleth blinked and held her gaze for a moment before turning his head to face forward, "Nothing. Don't worry about it."

Cadence turned and looked behind them, though by now they'd already put so much distance between themselves and the tree, it was being swallowed by darkness.

The girl glanced at him, "You look scared."

Beleth made a sneering face, "Yeah, 'cause there's totally monsters out here." he scoffed, "I'm not scared. It's nothing."

Cadence narrowly avoided treading on a sharp twig, and found herself having to trot to keep up with Beleth--suddenly he was quickening his pace.

"What's wrong?" she pressed, and the purple wyngling huffed,

"Listen, I'm NOT scared, okay? I just..." he slowed his gait, sort of shrugging his shoulders, "I just don't like seeing blood and fur together like that...or whatever..."

Ohhh, that was it?

Cadence blinked her large yellow eyes at him, "You like coatalas? Are they your favorite aminal?"

The boy didn't look at her, "Maybe? Who cares. I just don't like animals getting hurt. Is that weird or something?"

"Nah!"

"Then stop bugging me about it." Beleth growled, returning to his hurried pace. Cadence nearly tripped over an exposed tree root trying to keep up with him,

"I like coatalas too." she chirped.

"Good for you."

"I think they're pretty."

"Cool."

"Do you have a coatala? What's its name?"

Beleth rolled his eyes, "I don't have one, no. Can you just quit talking my ears off?"

Cadence's face fell a bit, as she was hoping to draw some kinda conversation out of the older wyngling. They continued through the woods silently for several minutes, long stretches of shadows thrown by bare trees striping the forest floor. The trees were beginning to thin as they closed in on civilization. Cadence felt a little relieved, as her feet were starting to hurt from all the running around.

"I'd want a black coatala. Or a black and white one..."

Cadence looked up, almost startled as Beleth began speaking.

"I think any color would be cool though. I've always wanted to see one gliding or hunting." he mused, still looking directly ahead.

Cadence smiled, "Yea! I wanna glide too!"

Beleth shook his head and fell silent again as they reached the streets of Wynsiph again. Cadence could see that the boy was much less uneasy, now.
