CHAC was(is) the Maya god of rain and fertility.
in periods of drought they would sacrifice young men and woment to It, by throwing them in sacred walls (cenotes), were they would drown and supposedly enter the realm of the rain deities. Gold and Jade offerings were also thrown in the well.
as most Maya deities, Chac exists under the form of 4 Chacs, one for each cardinal point. the North Chac is white, South yellow, East red and West black. Chac is depicted as a reptile/jaguar hybrid creature, with the snout and scales of a lizard and feline fangs.
