Now that the jumping courses were iut of the way for at least a few days, Alexa could finally ease into this event. The dressage phase on Republic was far from worrying her: if mistakes were to be made, it was far more likely to be hers than her mare’s. This class felt way safer than being let loose to jump gigantic fences anyway. And if anything, it was far from the first -or the last- time they would strut their stuff in the arena.
But truly, Alexa felt like she could breathe again, Seiger’s help also took a weight off her shoulders and made most of the work a lot easier, oscillating between serious tasks, flirting, and lounging around in this Australian paradise.
If anything, today felt like a blessing in comparison to the day before: a bit of DayDrinking on the beach, some light training, one on one time, and just like that the day went by.
Soon enough everything got set up for the dressage phase, Republic sporting her best resting bitch face as the last adjustments were made to her braids and the tack, while Alexa beamed with confidence again. Just gladly putting on her wine colored tailcoat -not without mentioning to her temporary groom how good it will look on the floor later-.
Good thing her cockiness was back on track, as they would be one of the first teams to graze the arena, and Al had well in her mind to set the bar as high as possible for the following riders. Intimidation was a great tactic after all. But really, Alexa’s objective tonight was that at the end of the class, the judges would still be thinking about her test.
