He felt a knot form in his stomach as he stood in the doorway to Carla's room. His hands were clammy, and he fidgeted with the hem of his shirt. The hair on the left side of his face still covered his eye, but his eyes peeked through just enough to see Carla's reaction. "Um, Ca-Carla," he stammered, "I dyed my hair. Wh-what do you think?" He could feel his face turning red with embarrassment. Carla looked up from her book, taking in his appearance. She saw the silver strands peeking out from behind his ear and smiled warmly. "It's beautiful," she said, setting her book aside. "I love it." He let out a sigh of relief, and his face broke out into a huge grin.
