Description (2006) 3.5"x2", pale gold Swarovski pearls, red gold metallic iris size 15 seed beads, 14 carat gold size 15 seed beads, delica beads (gold opal, dark bronze, satin 14 carat gold), bronze size 11 seed beads, pale gold and dark bronze satin triangle beads, nylon thread.

This cuff bracelet is done in brick stitch. I started with a fan around one side of the seed bead then added one half sun-disk after the other until I could close the bracelet and and finished the brick-stitch off with a picot edge on the outside. This piece is similar in technique to another piece in my gallery called "Slate Waves" [link] However, instead of linking the fans up for a continuous curve here they seem to overlap each other.

I have a piece in my scaps that explains the technique: [link]

This piece will be an entry in the Artisan Craft Summer contest [link] "Aurum Solis" means "Gold of the Sun".

Elly, I think your work is outstanding. I've viewed the instructions for your fan bracelet and have begun making one. Can you tell me how you sewed the half circles together? I've been puzzling over this aspect of the design. You can e-mail me direct at:
beaddesign@optimum dot com

I hope this is a good method to contact you!

Regards, Jeanne

Elly: I think I gave you the wrong e-mail address (airhead me!) and would really appreciate it if you could send the info to this one:

beaddesign@optonline.net

The other is supposed to work, but I guess like a lot of other stuff, it has its bad days.

Thanks again,
Jeanne
P.S. Several members of my beadwork group have viewed your deviantART work and are also in awe of your talents. If you have your own website, please let me know. J

Thank you! I just resent the mail to the new address and hope it works. If the image does not make the process clear, please don't hesitate to let me know. This is one of those areas where if you met face to face you can explain in 5 seconds, if it's via instructions it suddenly seems to be so much more complicated...

One of your best pieces, if I may say so. Looks sort of Central American Indian culture. I rather like it.

How long does something like this take ?

Ellygator In reply to wynnter89 [2008-05-20 18:24:51 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! This took about 20 hours to make. It's not one of the fasted threading techniques, but there are slower ones...

Well, thank YOU.
I really liked this one, but mostly like everything..So hard to make a choice.
(I have to admit that I did not post a comment in the first place because I saw you had like 6 pages of comments for this bracelet, and, in an absurd way, I just thought my comment was not needed here) (whereas in fact, it just shows my shyness..)
Last but not least : I'm a french speaker, so do not be afraid if you do not understand some words or expressions that I would not have well tranlated

Ellygator In reply to Kriseis [2007-12-14 14:30:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think your English is very, very good. It certainly is much better than my French would ever be. I took two years in high-school and was a fair speaker at some point but I have forgotten nearly everything. Quite a shame as it is such a beautiful language.
