Description
This plasma weapon is one of the heaviest small arms available in the armouries of the Hildebrand dynasty's House Guard. It fires white-hot bursts of plasma that can burn through thick armour or obstacles to strike at any foe beyond, but offsets the raw power with unstable operation and a tendency to catastrophically overheat - when not treated with appropriate reverence.

At medium ranges, where the ravenous energies of Melta weaponry falter, the Thilium-pattern Plasma Gun has no equal. It outperforms even the Hellgun in terms of raw lethality, flash-boiling unprotected bodies and inflicting serious burns on near-misses. Such is the plasma gun's zeal for battle that this lethality can turn on a derelict operator as well, causing severe frostbite or plasma burns depending on the negligent malfunction.

A thick insulative handguard and appropriately severe memento mori help reduce the chance of operator error-induced misfires, but nothing can save a miscreant from righteous retribution when this venerable and powerful spirit of war is mishandled. It is for this reason that the Plasma Gun is only issued to Stormtroopers, the House Guard's elite soldiers, who possess the training and discipline necessary to show proper respect to the weapon and its' rites of operation.
