I like how the background eminates from his head, and how he is sorta 2D, but detailed. It has a consent theme to it, very cool.

this is very inspiring, to say the least. its like a van gough/ Salvador D. its beautiful and very bizarre. it reminds me a bit of fear and loathing in las vegas

i remember viewing this a few days ago and struggling to find the
right words,...and i still don't know quite what to say. i love the
mix of black and white and color. that character is incredibly
unique. i love his expression and his form.
is he rooted into the earth?
very interesting and stimulating work.

Thank you first of all, and yes, he is supposed to be somewhat rooted into the earth. I have been doing these tree meditations where I envision my body becoming a tree and I become rooted into the earth. This drawing is a precursor to an idea I have for an indepth painting. Good observation!!!!

Someone else already pointed out the similarity to 'starry night', but yeah, that came to mind straight away. Like the warped fabric-like earth pattern. nice work.

This is great, the character, if I am to compare you to other deviants, reminds me of something would make, but the ground, for some reason reminds me of 's stuff.

hey angie,
wonderfully expressive -- love that stalk of a neck, the vulnerable slouching pose, that intricate heap of stones (like some remanant of an ancient civilization) at his feet -- he almost seems to be some looming giant figure of "time incarnate", or what shakespeare called "devouring time" - in fact it reminds me of that famous sonnet (41?) Devouring time blunt thou the lions paws And make the earth devour her own sweet brood .... Yet due thy worst, oh time, despite thy wrong/ My love shall in my verse ever live young...
I agree with one of the above comments, however, that the black and white here doesn't really go with the color of the sky and sun (which are great in their own right) ... Me personally, what would I do? I'm glad you asked. Good question. I'd cut the black and white portion out with a exacto knife, and then repaste it on either an inked new background, aluminium foil, black construction paper, or some othermedia - but in black and white...
That's my 10 euro, dahling.
See you back in the corrall.

D

such an intense expression. the sun is such a great part. for some reason the ground the way you have drawn it reminds me of how we all return to the earth. Were all just working torwards our deaths. But I really think we should hold onto our inner child. great work you create here.

I really like how it holds so much emotion. Very sad. It looks like he is doing the stick but since he's out in the sun, he started to melt a little bit. Great textures also!

I like the abstraction of the figure, but I think it would have been better all black and white. on the other hand the colors you chose do work. I guess its just personal preferance. great work.
