Description Previous Part:Β Rivet - Sunset Serenity
Next Part:Β Rivet - A new Dawn

"As the city lights began their nightly dance, Rivet turned to me. Her eyes were soft, shimmering pools reflecting the twinkling lights below. "Ratchet used to love this view," she confessed with a smile, her voice a mere whisper carried away by the wind. I found myself at a loss for words, so I simply nodded, my gaze following hers to the cityscape below.

We stood there, side by side, the silence around us as comforting as a well-worn blanket. It was Rivet who broke the silence. "I... I miss him," she admitted, her voice trembling like a leaf in the wind. I reached out, my hand finding her shoulder, offering a silent reassurance. "I know, Riv," I said softly. "I know."

The rest of the evening was spent in her apartment, a sanctuary from the world outside. We talked about Ratchet, about their shared adventures, about the highs and lows of their journey. Rivet, usually so guarded, let her walls down. She was raw, open, vulnerable. Yet, beneath it all, there was an undeniable strength, a resilience that was awe-inspiring.

She confessed that I was the first person she had opened up to about Ratchet. He was the only one of her kind she had ever met, and his departure had left a void in her life. We lay on her bed, talking into the wee hours of the night, the conversation eventually shifting to her life before Ratchet. She shared her story of growing up as an orphan, of the hardships she faced being the only one of her race.

Hours later, we found ourselves lying side by side on the bed, staring at the ceiling. The room was quiet, the silence a soothing balm. Just as sleep was about to claim me, I felt her shift beside me. I turned to face her, our faces mere inches apart, and she whispered, "Thanks for being here. I haven't felt like this for ages." She reached out, her hand finding my arm, then she closed her eyes and fell asleep. I watched her for a while, unable to move, before I too fell asleep."
