I think this was a rhetorical and self-analysing question in the film. He wasn't just asking Natasha, he was making reference to himself.

so true - can he wipe out all the red in his ledger?Β  Yes, a great reminder.Β  It's hard for some diehards to accept that Loki really is a 'bad guy' even though we all sympathize with why he became that way.Β  He is the villain of the film and has committed heinous murders.Β  Stuttgart comes to mind - gosh, that was just the most evil look on his face!

Probably not, but mmm, I wasn't exactly trying to remind people he was the 'bad guy', more voicing that I don't believe his actions were leaving him entirely unscathed, though he would never show otherwise.Β  His whole speech to Natasha I think reflects that; he turned it on her to hide what he felt at doing the same things, while also showing his distaste for assassins...he came from a martial society, and he wouldn't therefore see anything wrong in waging war to get what he wants, but I think he did resent Clint and Natasha for pretty much killing for whoever they worked for...
