Don't discriminate the art just because you don't like the pairing or subject I'd say. There are many things I myself, may not like, but if it's portrayed in a wonderful piece of art, I'll favorite it, just because the art is well done and executed. So I wouldn't necessarily call that being a hypocrite really, faving a pair or thing you dislike does not automatically equal or mean you support it.

Sometimes I favorite art from animes I hate because the art was beautiful. *shrugs* Sure, favorites for good couples are cool.. but I don't favorite art that isn't good in my eyes.

well.. because my favorite character is beautifully portrayed in these drawings (with my most unloved character). and i just ignore that unloved character and admire my most beloved.
besides, it's hard to find so much good fanart of favorite couples. deviantart is over flooded with yaoi for example, which i strongly dislike i prefer straight (and no. im not a homophobe. it's just too much of that stuff here) but yet, if that drawing will look good, or stunning somehow, i'll fave it.

the second reason is - you look at the drawing technique, at the promise of idea, you look at its entirety. you don't have to hate drawing which was drawn by your favorite artist. if you are a big fan of his art... you look at his works, not at these couples. you know?

I believe that not all of those people are hypocrites. Whereas people may not support the couple, they favorite the art because it was a sweet piece. There's no reason to be bashing on couples that people don't support. I think they're just appreciating the art and the emotions that are created within that piece. I'm not saying there aren't hypocrites, I'm just saying that not everyone is.
