Description
~ Aragorn, Heir of Isildur ~'I am Aragorn son of Arathorn, and am called Elessar, the Elfstone, DΓΊnadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor. Here is the sword that was broken and is forged again'
I decided to depict Aragorn like the Ranger as he was first introduced to us, but I wanted to use the iconic design of the sword he received in the last movie, because it looks so cool.
After reading the books again I realized that the shards of Narsil were already reforged into a new sword for Aragorn to take with him on the quest of the Fellowship, so it felt very right to have him carry it here in my drawing.
The emblem below is the standard that Arwen made for him, a black field with the tree of Gondor in the center, above it the symbols of Elendil: seven stars and a crown. A nod to the King he will become at the end of story.
Aragorn is the next character in a series of my The Lord of the Rings pencil drawings that will be printed as postcards and bookmarks for the upcoming Tolkien Tage event in Geldern, 2-4 June.
