Description

"You two will protect each other, serve each other, die together if that fate is to come.

You will carry her into battle once you have grown, you will fight at her side like your mother has fought at mine for so many years."

Β

Lorkus bidding his byes to Lo'tuk, the daughter of his own Frostwolf Lak'tuk. Lo'tuk and Manata were already forming a strong connection with one another before Manata lost Loska , and after the deathΒ  of the latter, the time was eventually right for the unlikely bond between a Frost wolf and Warsong.

This is so touching and you've done a really great job with this picture.Β  Even before I read the description, I could tell from the look in Lorkus's eyes that he was saying, "I'm trusting you to look after her."Β  Very well done and very heartwarming.

It certainly looks like a picture the artist enjoyed creating.Β  You've got some real talent.Β  I'm looking forward to seeing what else you make in the future.Β  Oh, by the way, I put up a few pictures of my own, finally.Β  I made them using Hero Forge, so I can't say they're an exact reflection of my character, Perdita Nightshade, but they do capture her spirit, I think.Β  Plus, they're the images which originally inspired the character, so I suppose they're significant in other ways.Β  If you decide to check them out, let me know what you think.

Hard work pays off hehe The image collection looks cool, the female has a really cool braid hairstyle! I like the chunkyness of the model

Yeah, the hair is definitely something I kept for Perdita in my stories.Β  I think it's perfect for a swashbuckler who was raised on the high seas, plus it looks like something her Orc mother would teach her to do.Β  Since she's a Half-Orc, I made sure I didn't design Perdita to look like a supermodel or anything like that.Β  Orcs and Half-Orcs in my setting have more bone and muscle density to them, so their bodies need to have a certain "heft."Β  Perdita's still got a feminine figure under that frockcoat, but it's the kind you'd expect from a Viking woman.Β  Her disposition is also something I've really enjoyed writing.Β  I've seen so many fantasy and science fiction works that have a female protagonist who's an obvious rip-off of Katniss Everdeen lately and I realized that Perdita was a character who really broke away from that trend.Β  She only broods when things are going really, really bad for her, but most of the time, she's an upbeat swashbuckler who laughs in the face of her enemies and has a blast engaging them in battle.Β  She's in it for the adventure, the thrill, and, of course, the money.Β  But I've also made sure she has a girly side to her as well.Β  She mostly expresses it with her hair and attire, since makeup that works with sage-green skin is hard to come by.Β  She does have some, but she reserves it for special occasions.

I had a blast writing the first edition of the book I've published about her, but it's not as good as I know it can be.Β  I cranked it out in under six months to get it submitted to a contest, so there are some sections of it which I wasn't able to rework before the deadline hit.Β  The first chapter is probably one of the weakest parts of the entire book.Β  Some people really like it but others find it boring.Β  One thing's for sure:Β  The second edition isn't going to involve as many italics.Β  I don't know what I was thinking including those in the narration and I put way too many of them in spoken dialogue.Β  I've made a rule that italics are reserved for characters' thoughts and telepathic communication or, if used in spoken lines, for when the character is shouting.Β  Still, for a book that I put out in such a short amount of time, I think it holds up all right.Β  It's better than some of the mainstream stuff I've come across, that's for sure, and I haven't had anyone tell me they disliked Perdita, so I know I've created a solid character in her.Β  The pictures I've posted on this site may not be a perfect reflection of who she is, but they still get the core essence of her, at least.Β  I'm setting some money aside so I can commission artists to make some more professional looking images of her, but I'm going to make sure I have her gear and wardrobe nailed down in my head before I go through with that, which means I've got more research to do on 18th century fashion.
