Description So, ummm, what to say? This is the piece of so called art I wanna add to the anniversary gallery of the lovely TMNT lady .

Lemme tell ya- trying to draw in a different style is not the best idea when you wanna do something quick! Since this pic should be part of that gallery, I decided that I wouldn't use my "normal" style, since this one is ways too far away from the movie style. But I couldn't for frikkin' hell find anything that would have looked only almost decent enough to show it to an audience. So I thought I'd make it 'easy' and use the drawing style from the comic adaption for the movie- HAH!!! I tricked myself so badly!!!! If anyone thinks that this had been easy to draw (for me)- forget it!!! I once more realized that I don't have the slightest feeling for a 'soft' style, harharhar!!!

Anyway I also wanna dedicate this picture to my lovely, dear friend , one of my best friends here on dA!!! I so love your fanfiction, and only can tell anyone here: GO AND READ DAT STUFF!!!! It's such a cool story, and the illustrations for it are absolutely top as well! Blu has a fantastic drawing style, and she's one of the sweetest, most adorable persons here!

So if ya wanna tell me that the picture sucks- I don't care! I wanted to add something to the anniversary gallery, and for the fact that I usually don't have time to even eat an apple at home since some weeks, because I'm REALLY busy, I think it's okay.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, TMNT!!!!!

Wow, Leo has cute face and even SEDUCTIVE eyes! X3333
Haha, it IS different from your previous one indeed.

Though I guess it is just another step towards your onw style...^^
You really didn't enjoy drawing him..? o.O But don't hurt him! *covers pict with body*
Haha and why Leo? He's not your fav....^^

Yay, the anniversary! *w*
I also wanna draw sth. I had plans with TMNT evolution (but don'T have the timeT.T), and Tmi gave me a 'job' to draw them, so I have some cute sketches of them I will use for that pict. Kudos for Tomi!

I can see what your problem is with PS tutorials..Do you want me to give some easy hints? What I usually do with a pict. I'm also not a big user of it, I also just use some simple trick with layers and some easy tool though...^^'

"Easy" is the word I like most, because I simply get mad over complicated insructions and descriptions. That would be really nice. I think your tips and ideas can be always useful for me.

Originally I had planned a group picture, and Leo was the first. But just when I came to the second character (which was Donnie), I realized I totally suck at that style. Even after the 10. try I couldn't draw his head properly. The style taken from the comic adaption for the last movie. I just "edited" the pic. I had already finished Leo, and since I didn't have the patience to start completely new, I thought I simply color it and upload it here. But somehow I feel bad about it, it's even not my own style.

I tried to just adapt the comic style, because my own shading had made the picture too confusing. Somehow I liked the simple lineart.

I wanted to make three more pictures, one for all of them, and then one for Splinter, too. Fact is, I simply don't have the time, because we're working on our house, then I have many Bellydance performances the next time, and need to practise. Then there's the honorary job in our local home for animals, my daily work in the hospital, and the rest of the time is to calm down, eat and sleep. Oh, I forgot the time I spent in my family doctor's practice the last two weeks. They checked me once more, to find out I have problems with my thyroid gland- more pills for me, yaaay

But I found a new photo from one of my bellydance shows. Maybe, if I find the time, I'll scan it and upload it later. It's one from three years back, but it's the best I have at the moment.

Ok, I'll find out how to make it easy.^^ Maybe I do a tutorial I mean I show how I do it...What kind of pict would you know about how to make? A comic...? some simplier line-coloured one...Look for a pict and tell, so I know what to start with.

I see why you found it confusing - I also don't like copying a style...except if that is the point (for example I tried to copy RC for Lady...was too difficult and I kinda gave up after the 3rd page...XD)
But I think YOUR Leo is much more...um...'warmer' then the original...I don'T like that style, too cold, too emotionless...I simply don't like, yet your one has feelings and nice face...X3
SO I think you should make more traditional madia (you can do it in short period of times, For example these comics I made recently-SpinSpin, LeoMeggy ones-were mainly drawn on buses, in bus stops while waiting for a bus, tram whatever, breaks during school, travelling in the city, you see?)

WOW, cool! YOu have another pict! *w*

What I'd mostly like to know is how you do those ones-->[link]
I chose this because you answered in Raaset gallery, so I didn't have to skip to anticia- confusing, right?

Well, even Konfuzius (Chinese Philosopher) said that you should copy the masters if you wanna become a master yourself. My only problem is that I didn't find a master I can copy without looking too much like him. Or with other words: If I decided to choose you as my "master" to copy, I'd soon fall into your style too much. That already happened with my TMNT style once- because actually it's not my style, it's a style Sarah created for me, I just took it from her. she's okay with it, because she is more interested in drawing her own characters meanwhile. But still I feel like I "stole" that style, and so I wanna get rid of it now.

Maybe you're right, and I'm not in the position for time taking art at the moment. Maybe I should indeed start with sketches again- if only my sketches weren't that scary. I'm not able to make "real" sketches, they always turn out like-->[link] This "sketch" took me over two hours.... I admire you for your skills to make even sketches look so "real".

It's okay you can choose from Anticia gallery too whatever i made^^
That pict was very simple, I will colour Leo Don then as tutorial...um...maybe next week I think...please remind me when you see I haven't posted it, ok?^^

Yes, I can see what you mean.
Uhum, sketches are good..while I was in secondary I only ,made sketches..for over 4 years!!! (after a year I didn't even drew anything) But after it I found that I improved in mind so when i started to darw again I was even better in lot of things. Especially in composition and colours.

You're kidding me?! That pict is cool! I love it!!!!

Eelayne In reply to RaaSet [2008-04-29 13:46:27 +0000 UTC]

That would be so cool, thank you!!!! I appreciate your help. Heiros already offered help, too. But she is already busy, and she's not here that often. RaphsImzadhi had send a shading tutorial to a German friend for translation already, but that was over a week ago. And until now he didn't answer....I don't wanna ask him again and again, I'm afraid that might annoy him...

You know what, I really had fun doing the Meggy parody yesterday. I was already excited to see what you think about it. It's nothing special, and was done in ten minutes- but for the first time since months I actually had FUN drawing something TMNT related. Maybe I should turn my style more into parody/cartoon again, hehe!

Yesterday I thought about continuing the series I started with Leo...the 2007 style is easy, but effective. Somehow I like it- though it definitely wouldn't become mine. But maybe it's a useful help to find my own thing.

Ok, dear, but you have to be patient, I will do MY BEST to make it next week...but it's not a promise, sorry..^^'

AWWWW! I'm sooo glad to hear you had fun!
You know it was really useful for me, indeed!
SOmehow I got the feeling how to do it. I will make a 'male-version' then I refine my way to draw him in the comic. ^^

Yay, it would be great! I lokk forward to see it! *w*
You like 2007 style? ^^ It's okay for me since you do it much MUCH better then the original CG and comic version.
Go GO Da Neen!

Aaaaw, ya make me blush!!!

I don't think you'd need to refine your style, many people seem to love it like it is! But experiments are always interesting, and sometimes funny.

Don't get in a hurry!!! I won't have too much time next week as well, late shift and much other work to do, so just take your time, okay!!!

Eelayne In reply to Heiros [2008-04-20 19:13:02 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I simply tried to apply the style of the comic adaption for the movie a bit, changed some things, and this was the result. Somehow I think the picture looks a bit "dead", I really have to find a way for better coloring. But since I still don't know how to use more than two layers, it's very hard for me. I have to draw all the shades into the picture per hand, without any help from the layers....that's really hard, especially since my lineart always fades and I have to recolor them. It sucks! Maybe that's one reason why I still don't work with PS very much, it's simply a pain in the neck for me! I'd do a lot faster with real paint...but I don't have any paint at home anymore.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Heiros In reply to Eelayne [2008-04-23 17:48:03 +0000 UTC]

How does your line art fade? Do you have you line art layer over your colors or under? Because the line art won't be faded over if you have the line art layer over the color layer. Have you found any good tutorials that could help you with using PS easier? If not I could try and make one for you, but I don't know if it'd be the same as using the version PS you have since my version is CS3 Extended. . . But I could just try and stick to what I think your version would still have that mine does.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Eelayne In reply to Heiros [2008-04-24 15:46:32 +0000 UTC]

I don't have a lineart layer....
I'`m not sure if I told you already, but I got my PS 7.0 version from a friend's brother, without any descriptions or help from someone. When I first tried to use it, nothing worked. And still now, after almost half a year, I know almost nothing about this programme, since noone around me is interested in arts, except my best friend, but she doesn't know about PS, either.

I got a tutorial for layers from my best friend on DA, someone uploaded it for her. Only problem here: the descriptions are all in English, and the most important things aren't udnerstandable for me, neither for her- a problem when you are on pages that don't translate anything...We asked a German friend from another page, he's IT trainer, and maybe he can help. But honestly, I'm starting to get seriously annoyed over PS, whatever I wanna do with this programme, I have to trust my bit of knowledge- sometimes I think there's nothing else to do but throwing this disc far, far away, so I don't feel that frustrated anymore. I mean, 16 years old kids can use that %#@& programme, and I'm hardly able to get a backround layer behind my lineart...

You're so nice, for offering me help with a tutorial. But you surely have more than enough things to take care of, I don't want to bother you with my crappy problems. Maybe the tutorial translation will help. If not, I can still ask you for help. Thanks!

Heiros In reply to Eelayne [2008-04-28 16:04:23 +0000 UTC]

No problem, hope the program doesn't become to much of a hassle for you to understand it when you look through the tutorial translation.

I hope so, too Until that, I think I'll follow someone else's idea and make more sketches and all those stuff, that doesn't take that much time. I wanted to work on my next TMNT series for ages...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Eelayne In reply to Heiros [2008-04-28 17:06:20 +0000 UTC]

*poked* Umm, I don' think I could make an own comic, not at the moment. I was more thinking of a new series like I already made some time ago, in Dreamwave/2K3 style. This time I thought that I continue the series that I started with Leo, in the 2007 style. It's all I can do at the moment, because of no time and no ideas for own works. I'm still trying to get rid of the old style I used, I simply can't see it anymore. I wanna do something less muscle- fixated...

Maybe the two Meggy pics were a start into the right direction. And yesterday I sat down and made another picture of the 2007 series. Well, it's just a copy, but maybe the right way to find a "softer" style. Yours and anticia's style is a bit like what I hope to find, though I hope to be able to keep a bit of the "roughness". I think the best is if I just try, try, try.

Heiros In reply to Eelayne [2008-05-09 07:43:32 +0000 UTC]

I think the Mikey pics were a good start in the direction you are going. lol, your trying to get a "softer" style and I'm trying to get a "rougher" style. lol XD Well I hope we both succeed in it.

Eelayne In reply to Heiros [2008-05-09 11:27:10 +0000 UTC]

Maybe we can meet in the middle someday- but I surely hope we don't do the same style then, hehe Well, I think your last picture was a good start, too. Raphael looked definitely tough!

Heiros In reply to Eelayne [2008-05-10 01:19:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I guess he looked tough. .. . but not tough enough since people thought of it as sexy. lol XD

Heh heh, I'm sure we wouldn't end up doing the same style in the end though. . . though. . . that'd be strange yet interesting if we ended up as so. XD

I'm always amused to see crycry's and enolianslave's styles- they look so similar, though they come from different countries! That's cool somehow. Both their pictures always have that "haaaw, how cute" effect to me! XD

It's almost impossible to make Raph look unsexy- except if you draw him in my "old" style, there he looks....

Eelayne In reply to LoveXXXLeonardo [2008-04-15 20:10:33 +0000 UTC]

He's looking at his brothers- to be honest, that's just a kind of copy from the comic movie adaption, I just "extracted" Leo and instead of a b/w version I made it colored. I had given a promise to add something to the anniversary gallery, but now that I look at it...I'm not sure if it should be added. Maybe I'll send crycry a message that she should delete the link. I had done something else, but in my own style...this hadn't been the right thing for an anniversary gallery....

No, "lazy" surely doesn't belong to my personality- as long as my health doesn't keep me away from the action, I'm always in the middle of everything.

well trust me, i'm not the most working person on the planet, but lazy really doesn't suit me, as in, I try to be a nice person, but I don't like to think of myself as a hypocrite, so I'll try not telling others to do something they don't want to just because I don't want to

RaphsImzadhi [2008-04-14 21:53:49 +0000 UTC]

Aaaaw, cool!!! You really made a pic for the gallery!!! Lovely!
And I think it's the gesture that counts, plus I don't think that it looks bad at all!!! You did nicely on the coloring, and I see that you "edited" the picture- the original is smaller, isn't it?
I see, critique is not desired... But it's also not necessary! Because I think you did great on the piccie!!! I know you've got almost no time, but would you add Raph later, maybe?

Thanks a lo-lo-lo-lot hun!!! I know my mistakes, I see them right in the moment I open the picture- but I simply don't have the time to work on it anymore. I already put some other work down again that I wanted to finish this week- I surely won't be able to do all the stuff I want to...when I looked into my gallery, I saw I'll have my 4000 hits soon, but I won't make it to draw something for that, either- actually I sometimes ask myself why people do that at all.... wouldn't it be enough if they just say "thanks" in their journal??? And isn't it enough that they share their works with the ones who like it?
Nevermind, I'll try to get something ready, but seriously doubt that I will make it...
