The only thing that would have made this more heartbreaking is if the last letter that was sent to him was to alert him of his daughters passing and when the funeral would take place...

That episode was an emotional roller coaster for me. I cried and smiled. It was a very good episode, and your comic was a great way to look into her father's feelings. Very well drawn and written.

The true tragedy of the story. It's sad Bright Mac and Pear Butter are gone... but imagine the one who has to live with it. At least... he still has the chance to make up for it, even slightly if anything. One thing he can do before the final grain of sand in his mortal clock runs out; be the grandfather your family wanted you to be.

This is so well done, I love it. It's so emotional. I liked it so much that I made a fan dub of it. Here's the link, I credited in both the video and the description. - www.youtube.com/watch?v=e62ZSN…

A man could do many horrible things in life with no regrets, but he should never break his little girl's heart as their last true moment as father... And daughter...

This is a WONDERFUL comic. It REALLY feels like something in the original episode script that had to be cut for time. I like how you don't reveal that she died or anything, it's just, like the episode itself, strongly implied. I still think we might get an episode revealing what actually happened someday. If/when we do there's no way this will become a contradiction (unless said episode makes its own Grand Pear flashback)

It's just painful because something like this, his guilt, it's pretty much canon. It's not some dark or tragic headcanon. This is 100% true to the characters. This 100% could've happened, and even part of it is real-- he never got to apologize or talk to her again. It was forever unresolved between father and daughter and... God. Emotions.

Probably something like this, but worse. The fact that he could not say goodbye to his daughter and left things unresolved is just as bad; that's something you never want to do with a relative before they pass away.

this was one of the most beautiful eps i have seen and it made me sad knowing thayt they are dead.
but this is the thing that a lot of people didn't realize. the fact that at the end of his life he saw a family he could have been part of.
and it must be killing him inside that his daughter is dead and he never got to say sorry to her.
i feel REALLY bad for him.

in my opinion when Applejack left the farm was just after his parents died, shortly after applebloom was born. She could not be in that place that brought her sadness

Now that you mention it, that does make some sense given the circumstance; it would indeed fit in with why AJ would leave like that in the first place.

There's only one thing that bothers me about Perfect Pear...
From the way Big Mac and Applejack talk about their parents, and judging from flashbacks in previous episodes, the two of them must have been very young when Bright and Butter passed away....
So then where did Applebloom come from?
Throughout the episode, Applejack talks as if she has no memory of her parents at all, and Big Mac doesn't seem to know much of anything about them either, though I did get the sense that most of what he experienced with them was with his father.
When Applejack left her farm for the first time, Applebloom wasn't yet born, but we don't see even the slightest hint or even mention of their parents there, suggesting they passed away before AJ left the farm and got her cutie mark. When they're teenagers, there's STILL no AB, and, again, their parents are nowhere to be seen....
So, what? Was Applebloom adopted?
Could it be that it's one of those situations where one of the older siblings (AJ or Mac) is actually the parent of the younger (AB), and for complex reasons, they're just calling her a sibling because the parent was way too young at the time?

Applejack: GRANDPEAR NO! maybe we can talk to their ghosts.
Grandpear: theres no such thing as ghosts. . .
Apple Bloom: theres not? but I wanna see mom and dad!
Applejack: GRANDPEAR COME ON, step away from that noose and come with us, were waking up the dead. . .
Grandpear: . . .alright, but if it don't work, I'm coming back to the noose.
