Description It may seem strange to feel sad over the death of a person you've never met, but the thing is, I encountered Star Trek at about age 10. Serious health issues, and a new school in which I didn't fit were conspiring to make it one of the worst years of my life. While Star Trek was by no means the solution, the calm collectedness of Mr Spock offered me some comfort; stay cool, stay calm, analyse the situation, learn everything, he said through the screen. Never get angry, never get upset, be curious, be dignified. Just because you feel a thing, does not mean that emotion must rule you. Take control of yourself and your mind.

While certainly not Leonard Nimoy's only contribution, Spock is definitely the one I know best. I may even be able to pin my initial interest in science on this curious half-human from another solar system, and the composed, craggy-featured actor behind him, and it is with great sadness that I read of his passing. I take comfort in knowing that he was proud of his legacy, and happy with the history he left behind, and I'm glad there was time for him to pass the baton on gracefully such that the story of Spock could continue with his blessing.

Farewell, Leonard Nimoy. I hope you never run out of frontiers to explore. I can only hope they find a suitable torpedo tube to shoot you out of.

(Apologies for being a little late with this; thought I'd uploaded it here already. Character recurs often in my FA gallery and has proven to be a Star Trek fangirl, hence she seemed appropriate.)
