Description One of the better rose photographs I've taken, I'm actually quite happy with this one.

Edited the colour curves slightly, but not too much.

Quick question, what lens were you using?

I was using a Nikkor 18-55mm lens, non VR. The lens ins't macro, or even Nikon's micro - I just used a slightly lower aperture [higher f/stop, higher DOF]. I'm glad you like it, and thanks for asking.

Volcano? What an interesting title! I end up imagining the flower smoking and all the swirling petals being molten and it gets really graphic far too easily. It's like imaginary surrealism, where the shot is totally just of a flower, but the title injects so much more understood imagery that I can't help but see it. Imaginative!

I think the only volcano we have, apart from one offshore, is Mount Warning, which is volcanically and tectonically dead, like most of Australia

You know, first two seconds I was dissappointed it wasn't a real volcano But then I fullviewed ^^ It's a beautiful picture, I love the colours (so strong and beautiful and shiny!), and the title actually fits very well
