Taken...2 years ago, on a Trip around the Southern End of Australia, along the Great Ocean Road. We stopped our car because the fog was so intense, and I snapped this shot of the canopy during our break. Taken with my old Coolpix 3200, which goes to show that even without a great camera, a decent shot can still be taken.Related content

yay, coolpix! lol. sorry--just that i use one right now so it's really encouraging to see a great pic taken with a compact camera. this is an awesome shot. it shows how overwhelming nature is. the trees are unbelievable, and what a wonderful sombre mood with that fog. great perspective... but i guess this was the only perspective huh?

mine's the s9... i got it as a Christmas gift in 2006, and i *think* it was released that year as well. so not too old. it's a good camera, but it's just amazing to see what DSLR's are capable of.

Yeah, I know - the quality is just outstanding...but a camera is only as good as the person using it. 2006, so it would have quite a high megapixel rating then, relative to my 3.2, classic

it's 6.1 MP. actually the only thing i wish really is that i could get real macro shots. but i know compact cams do only so much. it is a good camera

My D50 is 6.1, so we have equal megapixels. Did you say that you have a DSLR too?
Unfortunately, to get true macro shots, one needs a DSLR and then a proper macro lens...it's very difficult to get a Point and Shoot camera with a proper macro setting, I can't actually think of one, hmn.

yes of course. as soon as i think i can spare the funds for one. i'm thinking a nikon d60 or so. but i suppose i could also consider one of the canon digital rebel models. i just feel partial to nikon. but i guess at the end of the day they're both good.

Go for what feels the most comfortable. It's like comparing very slight shades of the same colour, you have to pick one that feels just right...and works too in the way you want it too. D60 would be a good option

I used to use a Nikon CoolPix L6 to take a bunch of photos and I got some rather amazing shots out of that little point and shoot. I think it really just matters on how you use the camera to it's strengths and can still come out with some amazing photos.
