Description
Striker looked over the Aegis Fate as it sat in its berth at the Flying Snake Mountain docks, other ships were flying by, but Striker had his complete attention on the Fate. “She looks beautiful fully modified, upgraded, and ready to go.” He turned to Green and smiled. “Kinda reminds you of the old days.”
Green glanced at Striker and raised an eyebrow, “What’da mean the old days?”
Striker grinned. “You know, back when you were just a sergeant and you would come and help me on missions with your squad!” he sighed happily and looked up into the bright blue sky. “Ahh…those were the days, going all over the galaxy, doing what we could to turn the tide of the war. I’ve missed it, I’ve been on Corum for to long I guess.”
Green laughed and sneered at Striker. “What? Afraid of another desk job? The great mysterious and power Sergeant Striker is afraid of a desk job!”
Striker answered with a glare and rolled his eyes. “Seriously…we’ve had this talk before, a long time ago.” He sighed again and looked at the Fate. “Anyways, speaking of old times, how’s Lauren?”
A Hawk gunship flew over them and landed not to far away, some medics hopped out with crates of supplies. Green smiled and looked back at Striker. “She’s doing really well, she actually said that it was good I was going out on another ‘Adventure’ with you. She said I really needed it.” He shrugged. “I guess I was getting a little stir crazy with the whole Commander position and not much going on.”
Striker raised an eyebrow and turned towards Green, “And you wonder how I went a little crazy having a desk job for a year.” He laughed a little and smiled again. “Well…either way, I’m glad you decided to help me Tom, it means a lot, I need people I trust for this mission.”
Green looked at him and then back to the Fate. “Me, a seventeen year old hacker who’s basically your younger sister, and a women who’s got more metal than flesh in her body.” He grinned. “You do know how to pick those you trust, don’t you?”
“Pick?” Striker raised an eyebrow. “No one said anything about picking, I just happen to find some of the most interesting, and deadly people in the SADF.” He kneeled down and opened up a cooler, inside were a few bottles of rootbeer and vodka.
Green laughed, “Well, I’m glad I met you then.” He took a bottle of vodka and opened it. “You’re pretty scary yourself you know.”
“Me? Scary?” he laughed and took a sip of rootbeer. “I know I’m really well trained, and spec ops, but I dunno about scary.”
Green gave Striker a look, “Trust me…I’ve been on way to many missions where I’ve seen Imperium and Crusader troops alike with fear in their eyes, the galaxy has someone to fear…and it’s you.”
Striker looked at his drink blankly, “You know…you’re a good friend Tom, you really are.”
Green smiled and laughed. “Thanks Striker, you are too.” He took another sip of vodka and looked at the Aegis Fate, “This ship, this mission, it’s one of the biggest things we’ll pull off, isn’t it?”
Striker grinned. “Well, I have a promise I need to keep, and this war has been going on for a long time, and there is no sign of an end anytime soon. So we might as well cause tons of damage while we can.”
“Well, we should get back to work then.” He put the vodka back in the cooler. “Thanks for the drink, I’ll finish it later.”
“I’ll catch up with you in a minute.” Striker took another sip of rootbeer. “I’m gunna finish this.”
“Alright, I’m gunna go check with Ethena to see how many more strobe lights she put in.” Green turned and walked towards the ship.
Striker smirked, “I’m betting at least thirty.” He took another sip and looked up at the sky. “Enemies of the Spiral Arm, Get ready, we’re coming for you.”
