Crew, Abraxas is so cool. I looked up the symbolism of blue and gold macaws while making this. Major respect to the care that went into Percy's creation. Blue and gold macaws, or Ara Ararauna which is the scientific name, are a symbol of the sun to the Pueblo people. They're also considered guardians, associated with the southern cardinal direction, and symbolize summertime and healing. I love seeing characters with symbolic backgrounds like this! And that's not even starting on Abraxas's actual character design. The colors are so pretty and Percy just looks amazing. I love the addition of the shoulder feathers. The contrast of dark clothing with the bright feathers is also just *chef's kiss*. I did add a few embellishments to my rendition of Percy because I have chronic Must-Complictae-Every-Design-I-Come-Across disease. It goes hand in hand with my inability to be concise. My additions were sun-related embroidery, a few extra jewels, and the feather patterns on the boots. Like 90% of my time while making this was spent on the feathers. I rendered everything but the feathers because I think if I had spent more time on them I would have cried. I complained on Twitter about them in the middle of inking them. Don't worry, you'll see more feathers from me in like 2 months when I forget the pain these caused. They did end up looking pretty good. I am quite happy with them!
