A really quick headshot doodle I did for the sake of doing it, specifically because it's close to Christmas and I wanted to revisit my version of "Santa Hooves", Polaris (otherwise known as North Star). Folks seemed to like him more than what I originally thought, so I think I may end up making him an actual character that exists in my headcanon. Until then, though, he's more or less a "tentative" headcanon thing for me; a really fun one. C:So here's the old fella being himself and just being generally happy. 8D
If there's one thing I REALLY wanted to do but didn't actually do it in the first sketch I did of him, it was the runes and markings all along his antlers. Even when standing idle and without doing magic, the big guy is basically teeming with it so the runes along his antlers are always faintly glowing a blue color. The antler s themselves are actually an off-white, but uh... yeah. o3o
I may end up doing another full-bodied sketch of him. But until then, this little doodle will do.

so are his antlers either permanent or since his ageing is so slow his cycle is as well, and he is yet to lose them for even the first time? or has he lost them and then they regrow and are recarved?

His antlers aren't carved into, the runes in them are magical in nature and, if his antlers ever did break, they'd grow back with the runes there. Unlike other reindeer, Polaris' antlers are more like the horns of unicorns than they are antlers; they are permanent, but if broken they can grow back. That said, it's preferred that they don't break because if broken, they will grow back but more likely than not won't be able to channel magic as strongly as they were originally. Polaris, being the reindeer equivalent of an alicorn, had his antlers broken once but they grew back swiftly and as strong as they were originally.

I do indeed scan my artwork, and the scanner is a HP Deskjet 1055. But it isn't so much the scanner than it is just me pressing down on its lid while it's scanning to get the image looking clear.
