Description
Or I guess this is for the Atlantis Herbiary?
The wetlands of Atlantis are turbid, constantly flowing with disturbed substrate, whether from bottom-feeders or the erratic flow of the water itself. In these murky depths the plant-life has decided that this constant cloud of silt and mud is just as useful a resource as that which it's anchored in. Trident grass is a species of zosteraceaen seagrass that made the shift to estuarine and then freshwater living during the separation of Atlantis millions of years before the Palaeocene. It has co-opted two of its roots into orienting towards the water, parallel to the leaf, giving it the distinctive trident shape. Nutrients from the soil below and above can be collected through the root cells. The fingers of the trident are almost exactly like the roots below, save for their thicker cortex and epidermis to act against the stress of the water flow. Trident meadows are found along the bottoms of swamps and murky waters, but are less likely to be seen in clear water or fast-flowing rivers.

I think this is the first plant that's been submitted? On Deviantart at least. Gotta have some primary producers for all the sauropsids and synapsids that most people will probably submit.
