In the wild, carnivorous animals often supplement their diet with fruits and vegetables. While they obviously cannot get their nutritional needs from them. Its believed that they eat them to help digesting food, perceived medicinal properties or for their water content. Another explanation is just as a form of entertainment or a means to investigate their habitat.

That being said, it obviously does not result in the same rewarding taste meat gives them.
