There's a contest going on over at for "smaller worlds", and since I've been missing Fat Dave it gave me a good excuse to draw him and Little Squishy!The little girl here is Jenna; I've only drawn her once (which I posted on my Tumblr). She's a very minor character in Larger than Life, but she's a fun one. Good to play off of. And because I thought it best to have more than two characters for this composition, Jenna seemed the logical choice.
I don't recall if I mentioned it before, but Little Squishy is something of a fairy. She's basically useless though. She can throw off dust like any good fairy (Fat Dave shakes her sometimes to get her to do it too, since Little Squishy is a total prima donna), but not much else.

Not too far off! The gender differences for fairies like Little Squishy are pretty minute; and sometimes these perceived traits are absent anyways. But Squishy is called female because her antennae curl. 
Naw, Fat Dave is still fat. I just haven't drawn him in a while, so it could just be that I'm a little out of practice.

Jenna is just a minor character, but she's a tomboy. She likes to hang out with Fat Dave and play-fight with other kids.

Well, even though i love everything you draw (!) i originally watched u to see more of him - especially waiting for the story, but since youre probably still pretty busy, i can wait a lil longer of course xD i was very pleased to see this piece of art!

Aw, thank you! I had no idea that Fat Dave had such a fan. But yes, while I do work with Fat Dave every now and then, his story isn't going to happen any time soon I'm afraid. I've got a lot on my plate at the moment.

Aw man. I entered that contest too and I though I might have a decent chance of winning but then I saw this. It is beautiful. I love the lighting, the characters and I think Little Squishy is aΒ pretty creative choice for this type of contest.

I think the extra points if it's based on a myth seems a bit unfair. I know that the group is about myths and legends, but you should also consider the fact that the artist put more thought when making something original. I actually didn't even make my piece for this contest originally, it wasn't until halfway that I realized it would be eligible for the contest, being under two feet and based on a myth and all. I guess I just kind of want to win because I want to get noticed, at least a little bit more. But even if I don't win I do feel happy to be able to come away from it with a new piece of work.

We give extra points like that mainly to encourage people to learn about some myths that are out there. 
We do have straight-up creativity contests at Myths-and-Legends from time to time though, where you make something up completely yourself. Depending on what people vote for, we could have another creativity contest next time, so keep your eyes open for that.

Well, I guess I can see your perspective. I myself am always trying to learn more about mythologies from as many places as possible. Sorry if I came off as thinking you guys were trying to be snobby or anything. I will definately stay tuned to see what else the group comes up with.
