Description Now with this one, we are really getting overboard with the continuation and completely, the left shadow-building is supposed to be the famous Haunted Cathedral of Thief: TDP, Thief: G and Thief: TMA.
Can you imagine, my fellow Thief fans like CSupernova and DanVzare (sorry for random mentions to both of you, but well, I`m not having many dA old Thief fans around here and you 2 are the handful of people I know) that this is the 1st time I had done a depiction of Hammer Haunt and even that was mostly supported by the texture mesh of Clean HammerHaunt that was done by Bronze Griffin on ttlg? www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread… <- sta.sh/01vkola6r77f (added a Sta.sh link to it because it seems to have disappeared from the thread, just like Demonic/Evil Haunt mesh texture o_o) Man, I need to draw more of them favorite undeads of the series .
No comment about the light and shadow, I know that I had half-assed the lighting of the surroundings of the Blessed Word blast (which is the light Me-Zharta is casting at the Haunt, as she has it as a minor power in her own world due of being born/hatched under the sign of The Ritual. Of course this also means some really unwanted attention from Pagan forces present, mainly The Eye inside the Cathedral that Garrett is going to get ), but it was really too bright and I had to erase the big portion of the image in order to make it somehow more bearable to the eyes (pun not intended). But else, I really love this piece and, well, smudge-tool abuse

Ah the Cathedral. Truly the best level in all of the Thief games, ever. And the haunts, they were truly some of the best enemies (just behind the Thief 1 zombies in my opinion).

Thief is probably the only game that has ever got horror right.

Probably, especially for its quite-respectful age. By Cathedral level, do you mean both levels where it appears? But yeah, this area is one of the best gameplay elements of Thief and so eerie, it will burn itself into your brain with its atmosphere. Moans of zombies, snarking Burricks, whispering Haunts and one truly mischievous stone, all in one place. It`s like heaven ... or Hell, depends how you see it .

Yeah, I mean both levels where it appears. Of course with more emphasis on the level where you actually get the eye. Such a masterpiece!
Thief by far has some of the best sound effects for scary monsters as well. That game really outdid itself when it comes down to horror. Too bad that type of horror seems to be lost on almost every creator ever.
After all, I think The Catherdral proved that you don't need a scarcity of weapons to make a game scary. You just need an over abundance of enemies that constantly walk by you. It wasn't a level that scared you by making you run, it was a level that scared you by making you cower and hope that nothing sees you (and with the way everything looked and sounded, you were probably still being a bit scared when you were perfectly safe). Such great atmosphere.

I see.
Both scary monsters and scary NPCs around, no matter if some of them actually make you think or cackle insecurely, while being genuinely freaked out and hiding as monsters walk around mere inches away from your hiding shadow. And true, as most games nowadays are relying on jumpscares in order to freak you out of the pants (except maybe Amnesia series, but I don`t know better), even though Shalebridge Cradle also fairs good in it, no matter the scripted events. Really the definition of really being in Hell, as you`re literally overwhelmed by the undead, no matter the docile Brother Murus.
Or jumpscare(s) and having them being on extreme alert once they hear or see you because seeing these foes looking for you in a place already overwhelmed by other enemies as well as elements you really need to watch out for, like noisy tiles, water, traps and light ... gah! It just goes to show the power of The Cataclysm even if it passed a looong time ago. And even more, running could kill you (or "join them") sooner than you though (Yeah, even though I actually cackled when The Eye made its remark there. Oh this Sentient and its remarks~).

That is a nice mix of both universes, I don't mind the light also, I think it is ok for it to be so bright.

Thank you very much, I got kind of worried of shameless random mentions around my deviations, but hey, if there are other people that inspired me, then they are viable to see what can the other person do with their inspiration and since you are already done many things to the franchise (love your Modern Thief folder <3) then it`s legit for you to see the craziness that is happening in here in their respected franchises/universes.
I only hope you don`t mind the other franchises that I post up about beside TES and Thief ones, like Xenomorphs, dragons, Team Fortress 2, ponies and gods-know whatever is inside my head. But else, keep being awesome and have fun!

it is one of the nicest compliments for an artist if someone says they got inspired by said artist. I feel flattered :] Thank you! And really, go ahead and tag me, even if I am watching you, I might not check my picture inbox on a regular basis and might oversee stuff.
Also do not worry about the combination of franchises, you can show the world your merging franchises, if they make you happy. :3
